Molten salt technology has emerged as an innovative and efficient method for storing and transferring thermal energy in concentrated solar power (CSP) plants. By enabling energy storage at temperatures exceeding 600°C (1112°F), molten salt systems allow solar facilities to generate electricity even when the sun isn’t shining.

 

However, the extreme operating conditions of molten salt that include high temperatures, corrosive properties, and the risk of solidification pose significant challenges for valve performance. Traditional globe valves often suffer from heat loss, external leakage, and complex insulation requirements, leading to increased maintenance and energy consumption.
